Since the summer of 2020 the Hudson Sloop Club has partnered with Operation Unite, and the Hudson Arts Coalition to create Waterfront Wednesdays, a weekly family-friendly community celebration featuring free boating excursions, live entertainment, catch and release fishing lessons for kids, activities for families and food for purchase at Henry Hudson Waterfront park in Hudson. We had a wonderful season in 2022 and are working hard to make 2023 our best year yet!

Community Sailing
Come and take a sail on a visiting vessel! At each Waterfront Wednesday the Sloop Club partners with a sailboat to take anyone who would like to join for a sail on the Hudson River. So far our visiting sailing vessels have included the Sloop Clearwater, the accessible catamaran The Impossible Dream, the historic racing Sloop Eleanor, and the sail freight Schooner Apollonia. All of the Sloop Club sponsored trips are free of charge and offered on a first come first serve basis. Sign ups to sail are available at the Sloop Club table in the park at the beginning of each Waterfront Wednesday.
fishing lessons for kids
Our lead fishing instructor Gnounga Badilla teaches kids the basics of fishing on the Hudson River! Whether it is their first time using a fishing pole or their one hundredth, kids ages 6 to 14 can come and sign up for a half hour time slot to try their hand at fishing off the docks. We supply life jackets, instruction, fishing poles, and bait, all you need is your guardian’s permission. Our Waterfront Wednesday fishing sessions are free to all kids. Some of the fish will be placed in our show and tell fish tank for the evening so everyone can get to know the Hudson River fish!
performances in the park
At Waterfront Wednesdays we host a free performance series featuring different regional dance companies, musical groups, local performers, DJs and bands. In 2022 these included: the Mark Morris Dance Group, Kyle Marshall, Being Sound, Social Justice Leadership Academy, the Koko Moko Jumbies USA and many more! We are looking forward to publishing our lineup for 2023 so stay tuned…
Trips to the Lighthouse
Through a partnership with the Hudson Athens-Lighthouse Preservation Society the Hudson Sloop Club offers free trips out to the historic lighthouse in the middle of the river. This is a great opportunity to get out on the water and see what the lighthouse looks like inside. Free of charge to everyone who wants to take the trip, sign-up at the park to take the ferry from the Hudson docks to the lighthouse and check it out!
